Patchfactor Show Raises Record £450 For Charity

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

“Patchfactor: the ultimate winners show” was an amazing success on Wednesday.

Organised by the students from Yr13, with support from some staff members, the show was able to show off the amazing talent that Patchway Community College has to offer right from Yr7 to Yr13. The show was well supported by current students, past students, parents and members of the community and thanks to that support, they raised an amazing £450 for Comic Relief. This is a school record for raising money on a one-off event. Everyone enjoyed the show, and ultimately the judges chose Jamie Reed, George Coghlan and Josh Keiller as the champions.

Patchway Teacher, Neil Jenkins said “It was a massive congratulations to all involved, well done to you all.”

Alderman Scott Award Rewards Patchway Teenagers

Friday, January 7th, 2011
Two Patchway Comunity College Students were recognised for their service to the community at this week’s Alderman Scott Awards.
Jade Gamlin and Kieran O’Shea were the happy recipients of this year’s award.  Jade for her contributions to sport/health in the local community and Kieran for his contributions to college and the local community in Performing Arts.
Patchway Town Council has been making annual awards to pupils of Patchway Community College (formerly Patchway High School) for many years in memory of Alderman Norman Scott, who was the first Chairman of the Council in 1953. As a member of Gloucestershire County Council, Alderman Scott fought for the establishment of a secondary school for Patchway and was the first Chairman of the Governors of the High School.
The awards are made, not for academic achievement, but for service to the school community. Jade and Kieran will each hold their cup for a year and were both presented with a book token for £60.

Schools join forces for music performance

Local primary school pupils enjoyed a music day at Patchway Community College on Thursday 24th June.

Year 5 pupils from Meadowbrook and Wheatfield joined year 4 and 5 pupils from Stoke Lodge for a whole day of

rehearsing songs and music, organised by Mrs Munroe of Patchway Community College. The day culminated in a one hour after-school performance involving all the children, which was well-attended by parents and families.

This is the second year that Patchway has run the joint schools music activity, and plans are in place to make this an annual event. Mrs Munroe praised the pupils for their excellent behaviour throughout the day, and for their fantastic performance.

Annabelle, year 5 at Meadowbrook said “It was great fun spending a whole day on music and singing, and I enjoyed making friends with children from other schools.”
