Spectacular First Night for Bradley Stoke Community Singers

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

We were delighted to receive glowing feedback new community group, Bradley Stoke Community Singers, following our article about their launch. For the organisers it was a dream becoming a reality, with an incredible 53 people attending their very first rehearsal.

Angela Kewley, the group’s Musical Director, made the rehearsal fun, inspiring and informative. Robin Fry did a fantastic job as Pianist, and both are giving their services free of charge, for which the group is extremely grateful.

Emma Rogers, Head of Music at Bradley Stoke Community School and Creative Director of BSCSingers, ensured that everything was in place for the evening.  In a great demonstration of supporting the community, she and BSCS Business Manager Julia Anwar for enabled and allowed the singers the school hall free of charge!

Rehearsals will be every Tuesday in term time only (excluding some dates when the hall has been booked for private events).  Participants are ased to arrive at 7.15pm for a start of rehearsal at 7.30pm until 9.00pm, however if you cannot arrive until later or need to leave earlier, or are unable to attend every rehearsal the group are flexible!

It is also planned, subject to sufficient interest from members, that there will be some social events throughout the year.

Dawn Clode, who has taken on the role of Marketing and Fund Raising Manager, donated a prize of a box of chocolates, which went to Karen Jones, Membership Manager, for the nearest guess (50) of how many people would attend the first rehearsal.  Ernie Trigg, Vice Chair Person, managed the group’s Facebook page and took photographs.

Congratulations to the 12-strong committee for their enthusiasm and helping to form the group’s ethos, recruit members and most importantly “make it happen”.
